A Family Celebration

Nathan's bday, Fathers Day, Dive camp 057

Continuing the Batman theme, we invited both sides of our family and cousins come for dinner and dessert to help us celebrate Nathan’s 5th Birthday! Ammon barbequed Nathan’s request – hot dogs.  We also added some sausages, salad and chips to make the meal complete.  It was quite a whirlwind of a day!!! Nathan definitely was thrilled with all the attention and he was adequately ushered into his 6th year of life!

Nathan had plenty of gifts to open today. However, the first one we had him open was from us.  It was our gift for him which we bought when we were in Korea picking him up!  I love this tradition! Each year Nathan receives a gift from his birth country. This year, we gave him a drum! Seemed appropriate for a 5 year old…they like to make lots of noise!  We hope that Nathan looks forward to each of his gifts we brought home from Korea for his 1st through 18th birthdays!  Nathan's bday, Fathers Day, Dive camp 062

Another very special gift that Nathan received this year was a book entitled, “Porky the Penguin.”  Aunt Amy wrote  and illustrated this very special book just for Nathan!

What a full and yet fun day! I look forward to this year ahead. It’s so hard to believe this will be the last year I will have him home with me (for at least some of the day). Beginning Kindergarten this fall Nathan will be in school half days, 5 days a week! Where does the time go? I am going to make it a point to really enjoy my time with Nathan this year! Before I know it, I’ll be posting his 6th Birthday Party wondering where the time went.

Nathan’s Party at the Golden Arches…

Totally, 100%, Nathan’s idea to head to McDonald’s for his 5th birthday party!  What more could a boy want? McDonald’s with his closest friends, Happy Meals and time in McDonald’s Play Place!

Nathan wanted a “Batman Theme” so we put together some fun goodie bags for his friends, Grandma Sherrill brought Batman balloons and we had Batman cupcakes!

All the kids seemed to really enjoy themselves! One party down…and NO clean-up for me!  I guess I can thank Nathan for that!

My Birthday Boy’s Morning…

Friday, June 18th!!!

Nathan's Birthday 003

Yes, we had to have our traditional birthday pancake with syrup and lots of sprinkles!  FIVE YEARS old already!

“So mom…today is the party day?”

“Yes, it is.” I was so relieved to say these words! For the past 3 weeks Nathan has been really looking forward to his birthday.  We have a busy day ahead…2 parties (one with his friends and then one with family). The birthday pancake fueled him onto a great day!

Wishing I was a better blogger…

Yes…I really want to stay up-to-date on my blog! But here I am, over a month since my last post.  Nathan’s birthday has gone by, Father’s day, fun summer activities, camping…and no updates.

So I get all motivated and post…then I bombard you loyal “followers” who have put my blog on your Google reader or other such site where you are updated when I finally post.  7 or 8 posts in one day is not uncommon…just to catch up. Sarah…are you getting this? I am sorry.

I do have to say that the summer has been amazing! I love having both kids home, not having a rigid schedule or routine to follow, having different fun things to do each week, etc. So it’s not for a lack of things to post….it’s just I have been enjoying the “fun” the summer has brought to our lives.

I am feeling the pressure to start writing again…catching up on-line and posting the many activities and milestones of our family. They will come…maybe all today…maybe not. But I will get back on board and blog again.
